Frequently asked questions

Clear answers to common questions about injury evaluations, office locations and scheduling.

What types of injuries does ReMD focus on?

ReMD focuses on the evaluation of work-related injuries, sports injuries, motor-vehicle collision injuries, and common musculoskeletal concerns such as neck, back, shoulder, knee, and nerve-related pain.

Where is the main ReMD office?

The main practice is located at 200 Porter Drive, Suite 210, San Ramon, CA 94583. Additional office locations are available in San Francisco, Hayward, Concord, and Santa Clara.

How do I request an appointment?

Call 510-781-0211 to request an appointment. The office can help you choose a location, explain scheduling options, and let you know what records or claim information to bring.

Do I need a referral or workers’ compensation authorization?

Some visits can be scheduled directly, while others may require a referral, claim number, or insurance authorization depending on the reason for the visit. If your condition is related to a workers’ compensation or auto claim, have that information ready when you call.

Does ReMD provide Qualified Medical Evaluator services?

Yes. Albert V. Retodo, MD provides Qualified Medical Evaluator (QME) services. Please call the office to ask about scheduling, required documentation, and whether your case meets QME requirements.

What should I do after a serious accident?

If you have severe pain, shortness of breath, weakness, numbness, head injury symptoms, or any other emergency concern after an accident, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room right away. Follow-up care with ReMD can be arranged after urgent needs have been addressed.

Can Emsculpt NEO Functional help prevent muscle loss?

The rehabilitative indications described by the manufacturer include prevention or retardation of disuse atrophy, muscle re-education and maintaining or increasing range of motion. Whether it is appropriate depends on the specific clinical situation and cleared device labeling.

Is Emsculpt NEO a pain treatment?

It has a cleared indication for relaxation of muscle spasms, but pain has many possible causes. ReMD evaluates symptoms before recommending a treatment plan; Emsculpt NEO should not be viewed as a stand-alone cure for chronic pain or every injury.

How does Dr. Retodo approach sports injuries?

Dr. Retodo played high school football and competed in wrestling and now enjoys golf. His sports background complements his clinical training as he evaluates pain, movement limitations and patients’ goals for returning to activity.
